/Join me for an exciting day that begins with a visit to an artist's studio and continues to explore painting at two Chicago galleries.
Come visit the studio of Melissa Leandro, who explores her cultural identity and family memories to create vibrantly layered textile works using the traditional and non-traditional processes of stitching, quilting, weaving and batik dyeing. Leandro’s work has been exhibited nationwide including at the DePaul Art Museum, the Wright Museum of Art, Beloit College, the University Club, and the Union League Club of Chicago. At Monique Meloche Gallery, we will see Lavar Munroe’s enchanting paintings about his recent travels to Zimbabwe. Munroe’s work reflects the journey, celebration, and magic of escape through dreamlike imagery. Derrick Adams’ colorful geometric paintings, exhibited at Rhona Hoffman Gallery, examine how African American experiences intersect with art history, American iconography, and consumerism. Enjoy lunch at the delicious Noble Thai restaurant.
Broaden your knowledge of art and explore Chicago’s art community in a small group atmosphere, with personalized attention.
