/Join me for an exciting day that begins with a visit to an artist's studio and continues to explore painting, drawing, and sculpture at two Chicago galleries.
Come visit the studio of Alice Tippit, whose playfully erotic, surrealist inspired paintings function as visual poems or puns. Her paintings combine hard-edged style with a restrained color palate. Tippit’s work has been exhibited internationally. She is looking forward to a solo show at the DePaul Art Museum in 2026. At Richard Gray Gallery we will see Theaster Gates’ new series of tar paintings and sculpture that tell the story of the city in decay and the potential contained within its ruins. Gates currently has a solo show at the Smart Museum. At Zolla Lieberman Gallery we will experience Sebastian Thomas’ magical medieval paintings. Imitating Byzantine grandeur, buildings are backgrounds for symbolic imagery of battle, religion, and fantasy. Enjoy lunch at delicious Noble Thai.
Broaden your knowledge of art and explore Chicago’s art community in a small group atmosphere, with personalized attention.
