/Join me for an exciting day that begins with a visit to an artist's studio and continues on to explore painting, drawing and sculpture at two Chicago galleries.
Come visit the studio of Anna Kunz, who describes her colorful abstract paintings as "seeping out of the rectangle." Last Spring, at an exhibition at the Hyde Park Art Center, Kunz created a spectacular large-scale installation where she used the physicality of color and light to broaden the boundaries of painting. Kunz's work has been included in numerous national exhibitions, most recently at the Smart Museum, Chicago and White Box, NYC. We will experience Theaster Gates' fascinating new sculpture, installation and neon work at Gray Warehouse in a show entitled, "Every Square Needs a Circle." At Corbett vs. Dempsey, we will see wildly inventive paintings by Karl Wirsum, an original member of the Harry Who. Enjoy lunch at the delicious Southwestern restaurant, Flo.
Broaden your knowledge of art and explore Chicago's art community in a small group atmosphere, with personalized attention.
