/Celebrate summer by joining me for an exciting day of looking at art.
Come visit the studio of Dianna Frid, who works at the intersection of material texts and textiles. She makes artist’s books, works on fabric, drawings, and sculptures. In Frid’s work, embroidery is a prominent vehicle for exploring the relationships between writing and drawing. Her art is in many museum collections including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and the DePaul Art Museum. At Monique Meloche Gallery, we will experience a stunning group show of artists, including Mickalene Thomas and Sanford Biggers, who use collage as a way to weave together narratives of personal histories and cultural identities. At Rhona Hoffman Gallery we will see work by prominent Chicago Imagist Margaret Warton, who deconstructs and transforms everyday objects, mostly chairs, into whimsical sculptures. Enjoy lunch at the delicious Southwestern restaurant Flo.
Broaden your knowledge of art and explore Chicago’s art community in a small group atmosphere, with personalized attention.
